2004 Nautiques Wakeboard X-Cup
Sharpley's Source For Sports Provincial Wakeboard
Championships Results After a boat malfunction involving a 12 ft dead head, we were forced to postpone the Mens and Womens Open category. These two divisions which constitute the top two or three from each category and will ultimately determine the overall mens and womens Provincial Champions, will take place at the beginning of our competition in Gravenhurst on Aug. 21st. Otherwise the standings attached are the age group results and the Sharpley's open was a success. Haliburton usually ends up being one of our bigger tournaments and this year did not disappoint, even with a rainy morning the crowds and the competitors came out when the sun finally did in the late morning. All of the people who attended were lucky enough to watch Shane Bonifay who is up in Canada for Wakestock show us how wakeboarding is supposed to look. He went out for a few runs during the day and blew many minds with giant off axis spins, and some tech rail sliding, he even ollie backside 180ed the 3.5 ft. kicker. He actually placed first in the Mens 1 division though he will not be allowed to claim the title of Mens 1 Ontario Champion due to his American citizenship. All in all another great X-Cup event though we'll have to wait to the final event for the crowning of the Provincial Champions. We'll see you all at Gull Lake in Gravenhurst on Saturday Aug. 21st.
