(VANCOUVER, BC) - This summer's hottest event, the 1st
Annual Wake West
Festival, will hit downtown Vancouver on August 27-29,
2004! False Creek at
the Plaza of Nations will host 3-days of insane
wakeboarding action, a huge
vendor village, beer gardens, and 2 music stages
showcasing the biggest
roster of Canadian talent with punk-pop sensations, Sum
41.
Over 200 of the nation's top male and female wakeboard
athletes will compete
in the Canadian National Wakeboard Championships, which
includes the crowd
favourite Slider and Wakeskate events. With $10,000 in
prize money and the
National title up for grabs, Wake West will see the best
Canadian names in
attendance, such as:

Festival fans can view perfect site lines of all the
high-flyin' wakeboard
action from the Plaza of Nations or the Grandstand and
beer gardens in
adjoining Cooper's Park, and browse for the latest in
wakeboarding and
action sport products in the Vendor Village. Music from
over 30 of Canada's
best bands and DJs will grace 2 stages at the Plaza of
Nations all weekend
long, including Sum 41, the Tea Party, Swollen Members,
Bif Naked, Black
Halos, Out of Your Mouth, Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir,
the Rumours, Kia
Kadiri, Kyprios and many MORE!
