Interview from Water ski & Wakeboard
Canada
What are some career highlights for you to date?
“I had a great year last year. I won the
Russia World Cup stop along with Wakestock and Nationals.”
What are your greatest strengths?
“I’d say my greatest strength is my
ability to land my passes when it really matters!”
How did you get involved in the sport?
“My brother Austin got me into wakeboarding
when I was about 11. I started competing in 1998. My competitions
always ended up taking me to the next level. I would win an event that
would get me invited to the next one. I started competing pro last
year.”
Who has been your greatest influence and why?
Sunni says her greatest influence has been her brother
Austin, who really got her started in the sport and is always happy for
her when she does well.
What are your hobbies/other interests?
Sunni says that being active is what makes her the most
happy. She loves to go biking and do pilates. She is also a really
talented artist.
What are some of the important lessons you learnt in previous seasons
which you think are important to competing?
“Definitely to get a good night sleep before
any competition”
What are you future goals, both sport related and non sport-related?
Basically Sunni-Anne just wants to keep riding and be
happy!
Other interesting facts
Favorite move:
“My brother really likes my toeside backroll (a back roll on
your toeside edge of the board) because I do them like he does. I throw
it pretty big and grab it indy and then turn the 180 really
late.”
