WWA Wake Park World Championships and CamSur Rider’s Cup Event Recap! Wins for Nick Davies, Dean Smith, Reed Hansen
among others... Next Stop, Orlando June 12th.Canadian Results: Kyle Rattray finished 3rd in his Rail Quarter Finals Heat. The 2009 WWA Wake Park World Championships finished last week after 5 days of intense competition and amazing festivities. The event capped off with the wake park, rail park, and boat events including over 250 riders representing 21 countries from all across the globe. During Sunday's Finals, Nick Davies took the title of 2009 WWA Wake Park World Champion home to England in the Pro Men division, Dean Smith brought in a win for Australia in the first stop of the WWA Wakeboard World Series behind the boat during the CamSur Rider’s Cup, and Reed Hansen from the United States won the CamSur Rider’s Cup and the WWA Wake Park World Championships in the Pro Wakeskate divisions. After all of the results were tallied it was time to announce the 2009 Ultimate Wake Champion, a culmination of points for all 4 Pro Men Wakeboard divisions throughout the week. Tom Fooshee from the United States was crowned Ultimate Wake Champion after winning the Obstacles Only division, taking 2nd in the Wake Park World Championships, and coming in 5th in the CamSur Rider’s Cup and the CWC Rail Park contest. Fooshee edged out fellow American JD Webb, who was in close contention for the title until the very final day of competition. Fooshee went home with a $8,000 bonus for all his efforts throughout the week. On the Wakeskate side of things, there was no stopping Reed Hansen all week long. After winning the CamSur Rider’s Cup and the Wake Park World Championships in the Pro Wakeskate division, he received a 2nd place finish in the CWC Rail Park contest with the first ever kickflip to back lipslide in a contest down the Ronix hubba ledge. That gave Reed the overall win as the Ultimate Wake Champion in the wakeskate divisions giving him an additional $4,000. The WWA Wake Park World Series started strong during the event as well with the Pro Women division. Maxine Sapulette from Holland would take down the competition and become the 2009 WWA Wake Park World Champion, with Raimi Merrit from the USA, Lauren Ormsby from Australia, and England’s Steph Caller coming in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectfully.
